Cedar Park TX - Kent Lester issued the following statement regarding the events that occurred in Charlottesville VA:
“The actions of the last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia have been shocking, unspeakable, and appalling. Three Americans are left dead and our country’s leaders have done little to address or strongly condemn the violent and terrorist actions undertaken by White Supremacists.
First, I want to express my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Heather Heyer. Heather answered a call to action that few others would. She stood against a display of hate and racism that goes against the very core of American values for which so many others gave their lives. Heather’s act of bravery and selflessness should serve as an example for all Americans of the importance of standing up for the freedoms of our fellow Americans regardless of the creed, race, or nationality to which they belong.
Second, my condolences also go the friends, families, and loved ones of Lt. H. Jay Cullen and Trooper-Pilot Berke M.M. Bates, who were killed after their helicopter crashed while monitoring the situation. Their sacrifice to keep the people of Charlottesville safe should be recognized by the people of this nation.
Finally, let’s acknowledge that the actions of the white supremacists are, in fact, terrorism. Terrorism, both at home and abroad must be met with the kind of bravery exemplified by Americans like Heather Heyer.  As far as this veteran is concerned, Heather’s selflessness is in keeping with the finest of American values and should be a reminder that as Americans, we should leave no one behind.”
